WB to Provide Moldovan Horticultural Producers MDL 17,8 mn
OREANDA-NEWS. August 28, 2014. Thanks to the external financial aid and their own investment (MDL 27.4 million) 5 groups of the producers will buy refrigerator stations to store fruit and vegetables, washing, grading, sorting and packing lines within the Facilitation of Access to Markets investment programme under the World Bank’s Moldova Agriculture Competitiveness project (MAC-P), the Agency for Agricultural Payments and Interventions informs.
In particular, the group of producers of almonds and hazelnuts from Causeni will have MDL 895,700; association of fruit producers SIPECOFRUCT (Calarasi) will receive MDL 3.3 million; association of producers of table grapes STRUGURELE AURIU (Stefan Voda) will be provided with MDL 4.8 million; BASAN AGRO (Cimislia), which specializes in producing table grapes, peaches and prunes, will receive MDL 4.9 million; AUROVITA (Ialoveni), producing table grapes and raspberries, will be granted to MDL 3.8 million.
The grant programme was launched in April 2014. An amount of the grant available for the producers covers 50% of their investment and is supposed to be spent on buying the equipment. According to WB Programme Manager Olga Sainciuc, the core message of the programme is that agricultural producers can compete in international markets by uniting in associations only.
