Russian Border Guards Bust Man With 275 kg of Meat
OREANDA-NEWS. August 28, 2014. Russian authorities have stopped a man who attempted to smuggle 275 kilograms of meat and fish from Estonia.
The unnamed man, of Russian origin, was arrested at a checkpoint in Ivangorod, across from the Narva river, Postimees reported.
Each person is allowed to take a maximum of five kilograms of meat or fish across the border to Russia.
Russia banned all imports of meat, fish, dairy, fruit and vegetables from the EU, USA and a number of other nations at the beginning of August in retaliation to Western sanctions. It later relaxed the rules for some special categories, like lactose-free milk.
