OREANDA-NEWS. The first production military transport aircraft IL-76MD-90A, built at CJSC Aviastar-SP, was demonstrated during the airshow as part of IATF-2014 in Ulyanovsk.

The event was attended by the governor of Ulyanovsk oblast Sergey Morozov with his family. He congratulated the teams of Ulyanovsk aircraft enterprises on Day of the Russian air fleet.

“For us, citizens of the aviation capital, it is a very special holiday. After all, the heart of civil aircraft industry is beating here. Here we have the only Civil Aviation Academy in Russia. We are proud of the achievements of its professors and alumni. We are proud of the accomplishments of our air transport companies and Ulyanovsk enterprises that manufacture aircraft equipment”, said the governor.

Residents and visitors to the region saw exhibition performances of paratroopers and aeromodellers. Vyacheslav Maksyuta, an athlete from Saratov, set up a record by moving an An-12 aircraft weighing more than 50 tons.

The high point of the event was the performance of aerobatic demonstration team Rus that flew L-39 Albatros training planes.

The final assembly of the first production Il-76MD-90A at CJSC Aviastar-SP was finished in June, 2014, after which it went through a pressure test of the wing box and the centre-section. The aircraft was painted at Ulyanovsk aircraft painting centre JSC Spektr-Avia. Moreover, for the first time ever the aircraft was coated with new Russian-made polyurethane enamels, developed by All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials. The aircraft received a traditional painting scheme for military transport aircraft of the Russian Air Force, approved by the Ministry of Defence, and also its own name Ulyanovsk. The name and municipal arms of the city are painted on the forebody of the aircraft. At the present time the production Il-76MD-90A undergoes ground tests, after which flight tests are already planned. Within the framework of IATF-2014 the first Il-76MD-90A was demonstrated at the static display of aircraft.

On August 15, 2014 at IATF-2014 the first supply contract for Il-76MD-90A was signed with JSC Beriev Aircraft Company that wants to use this aircraft as a platform for their special prototype A-100. The transfer document was signed by Deputy General Director - Director of the Il-76 program of JSC UAC-TS Nikolay Sankov and Deputy General Director of program management and coordination of JSC Beriev Aircraft Company Anatoly Shakun. The ceremony was attended by General Director of OJSC Il Y.M. Yudin, the governor of Ulyanovsk oblast S.I. Morozov and General Director of CJSC Aviastar-SP S.G. Dementyev. The aircraft is manufactured at Ulyanovsk aircraft plant Aviastar-SP and designed by Ilyushin Aviation Complex.

The transfer of the aircraft to the customer will be made after all the necessary tests are finished.
