OREANDA-NEWS. DTEK crews have returned light to many homes located in the downtown of Gorlovka and near the garment factory, which have been cut off since 8 August. Thanks to the power engineers, the residents of Kochegarka district in Gorlovka can enjoy using fridges and washing machines again. The repair crews have powered four fuel stations, so Gorlovka Gas Authority and City Heat Network can fill their vehicles.

On 18 August, DTEK Donetskoblenergo restored power supply to the Lenin Mine (Artemugol State Mining Group) cut off on 17 August. The mine has a high level of coal-and-gas outburst hazard, so it was very important to power it and turn on the ventilation and dewatering facilities. At first, the mine was connected to a back-up line, although now DTEK crews are fixing the second line to ensure a reliable power supply.

Repairs continue in order to return electricity to homes and plants in Gorlovka. On 18-22 August, DTEK fixed 161 of 242 damaged substations. The workload is enormous: engineers had to fix 30 breaks at a power line seriously damaged by shell fragments.

The power supply in Gagarin and Michurin mine towns will be shortly restored.

The power line between Gorlovka and Dzerzhynsk remains the most difficult facility to fix. It is impossible to start repairs due to the hostilities. The territory along the power line may have been mined and contain unexploded shells, so the works can start only after combat engineers from the State Emergency Service demine the area.

Yesterday, 85% of Gorlovka area received electricity. The city had been cut off completely or partially from 8 until 21 August.
