OREANDA-NEWS. August 27, 2014. This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Moldova Sergey Pirozhkov in the interview with the news agency "UKRINFORM", answering the question about the establishment of economic relations between Kiev and Chisinau in the context of signing of Association Agreements with the European Union by both states, and in particular, after economic sanctions imposed by Russia against Moldova and Ukraine.

The diplomat noted that the introduction of Russia's economic sanctions is a serious challenge, as traditional markets for Moldovan and Ukrainian products is closed, and this is a serious impact on the producers. Sergey Pirozhkov said that Kiev and Chisinau will support each other and discuss ways of cooperation, including the expansion of bilateral trade and economic relations. According to him, in September of this year economic forum, which will be attended by representatives of Moldova, will be held in Kiev. This event is especially important for the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy Adrian Candu, who as the co-chair of the Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation plans to conduct with the head of the Ministry of economic development of Ukraine direct consultation on many issues.

The Ukrainian diplomat noted that there is an appeal of the Minister of agriculture and food industry of Moldova, Vasile Deputy Minister with the request to Ukraine to respond to the purchase of fruits and vegetables that are prohibited for export to Russia. "I think that Kiev will provide all possible assistance in many aspects, as well as Moldova supports Ukraine", - said the Ambassador of Ukraine in Moldova.

He reminded that recently Ukraine has removed discriminatory measures regarding additional fees and rates for Moldovan cognac products. In particular, due to these measures in the recent years French cognacs were subject to lower charges in Ukraine than Moldovan ones and the price was unattractive to the consumers.

The Ambassador noted, Ukraine is waiting for Moldova to remove the increased fees on plastic packaging (beer, mineral water, etc), which, unfortunately, damaged Moldovan and Ukrainian producers. "It was discriminatory decisions, and we need to improve the situation," he said.
