Uralmashzavod Signs Agreement with Vizag Steel Plant
OREANDA-NEWS. Uralmashzavod signed an agreement with an Indian company Vizag Steel Plant for turnkey modernisation of a sinter plant.
Tender lasted more than two years with Uralmashzavod winning the bidding over two global leaders in agglomeration equipment deliveries Siemens and Nippon Steel. This became possible due to the best technical and commercial offer and positive customer feedback on Uralmashzavod products. Two machines that Vizag Steel Plant plans to modernise in order to increase productivity were supplied by Uralmashzavod more than 20 years ago in 1989 and 1992.
A sinter plant represents an industrial facility for sinter production, which includes warehouses for bedding and storage of burden materials, reception bunkers, department of coke and limestone degradation and furnacing as well as charging, sintering and final processing departments.
It is planned to accomplish all works within two years and put the first sintering machine into operation in June 2016, with the second one starting to operate few months later in November.
The new contract covers modernisation of sinter machines as well as associated equipment of the plant. Burden blending and pelletizing sections, crush lines, sinter assorting and energy supply systems will be modernised.
"None of the sinter plants operating Uralmashzavod built equipment has recently needed comprehensive modernisation. This is explained by the durability and reliability of our equipment and companies' focus on improving final processing. But sooner or later both Russian and foreign companies will realize the need to modernise the agglomerative processing as well. Results of the cooperation with Vizag Steel Plant on this project will demonstrate to customers the advantages of advanced design and technical developments of Uralmashzavod experts. These include productivity increase, cut in energy consumption, and significant decrease in production prime costs as a result," said Head of Export Sales Department, Deputy Sales Director of Uralmashzavod Dmitry Malakhovsky.
