OREANDA-NEWS. The Port Administration of Anhui Province said on August 20 a local company launched a rail-sea combined service to overseas countries via the port in Nanjing, capital of East China's Jiangsu province.

The move marks the province's inland region has found a new way of facilitating foreign trade.

Anhui Huainan Chemical Group Co., a state-owned coal chemical conglomerate based in Huainan in the north of the province, launched a 20-carriage train with a capacity of 1,040 tonnes of a solution of urea and ammonium nitrate to Nanjing a couple of days ago. The goods were declared at the customs right in Huainan before being released at the Nanjing port. The exporter plans to hike the capacity to 1,100 tonnes and operate that service on a daily basis.

The rail-sea combined transport is estimated to cut the company's annual cost by 10 million yuan (USD 1.6 million), according to the administration.
