Volume of Cargo Transportation in Moldova Increased by 7,2%
OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2014. As it was informed in the National Bureau of statistics, in July 2014, the enterprises of railway, road, river and air transport of Moldova transported 1 million 273,7 thousand tons of cargoes, or 2.9% less than in the previous month and 8.3% less than in July 2013.
In January-July 2014 over 2 million 677,4 thousand tons of cargoes, which is 0.7% more than at the same period of 2013 were transported by rail. The largest share in the total volume of goods loaded at the railway stations for 7 months of 2014 accounted for grain and flour products - 42,4% (in January-July 2013 - 31.3%), ferrous metals and scrap metal 15.7% (18.6%), construction materials and cement - 7,7% (14,4%).
The volume of road freight transportation in January-July 2014 increased by 11.6%-up to 4 million 084,6 thousand tons. The most significant volumes of transport in this period were registered in the companies of Chisinau municipality (55,5%) and Balti (7.2%), followed by: Nisporeni (4,7%), Ialoveni (4,7%), Straseni (4%), Sinjerei (3.6%), Floresti (3,1%), Anenii-Noi (2,8%), Orhei (1,8%), Taraclia (1,7%) and Rezina (1.7%).
Cargo transportations by river in January-July 2014 grew by 18.4% compared with the same period of 2013 and amounted to 97,4 thousand tons, and air transportations have decreased by 43.3%- up to 0.4 thousand tons.
