OREANDA-NEWS. The 52nd Session of the Joint Russian-Finnish committee on the border water systems use was held in St.Petersburg.

TGC-1's experts reported on implementation of activities carried out within the framework of the Inter-governmental Agreement dated July 12, 1972 “On Energy Use of the Vuoksa river area limited by the Svetogorskaya HPP and the Imatra HPP” and implementation of the Saima lake and Vuoksa river flow regulation rules.

“TGC-1 provides continuous monitoring of the water basins, proactively participates in regular control over hydrological mode, investigates and provides control over potential factors which may result in Vuoksa river flooding, said Pavel Ivashintsov, Head of TGC-1's Production Department. - We managed to significantly improve the environmental friendliness resulting from retrofit of the Vuoksa HPPs Cascade, which was aimed at improvement of the technical equipment and energy safety of both the power plant and the region as a whole”.
