FAS Initiates Case against Rosteleco
OREANDA-NEWS. August 22, 2014. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against “Rostelecom” OJSC upon elements of violating the antimonopoly law “Clause 1 Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law “On Protection of Competition”).
The company fixed and maintained monopolistically high price for the service for providing location in cable channels to place telecommunications cables.
The case will be heard on 22nd September 2014 at 1 p.m.
“The case was initiated upon the outcome of investigating complaints filed by several communications providers. The complaints were filed upon “Rostelecom” introducing new tariffs since January 2014 for the services of cable allocation in cable channels, exceeding the previous tariffs by over 50%”, commented the Head of FAS Department for Control over Transport and Communications, Dmitry Routenberg. “Every now and then these issues come to the attention of the antimonopoly bodies. Under the frame of the case investigation, the market will be analyzed in detail and should the violation be exposed, antimonopoly remedies shall be applied”.
