Ukraine Could Regain Prestige on Global Food Market
OREANDA-NEWS. August 21, 2014. "The only industry today which demonstrates certain growth is agriculture. I have insisted and still highlight that we have two points of growth in the Ukrainian economy. The first one is agriculture. The second is energy. Our task is to spare no effort to ensure Ukraine could regain prestige on the global food market", - said the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk on at the beginning of the meeting with representatives of the largest agricultural producers of Ukraine, which took place in Cherkasy region in the frames of a roundtable
"The principal aspects of the Government's comprehensive package of changes to the tax system (the Concept of reforming the tax system of Ukraine)”.
According to the Head of the Government, to perform this task we possess all the opportunities: "Someone has oil, others have gas. We own the soil and have an opportunity to feed Ukraine and to feed considerable amount of countries which have to pay in currency to Ukraine for the agricultural products we sell".
At this stage, the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said, Ukraine triggered the process of tax reforming called to ensure further development of the industry.
He reminded that the Concept of the Government offers reducing the number of taxes to nine. But the debate over reform of the tax system in agriculture is still ongoing.
"Our foreign borrowers suggest us to transfer to the common system of taxation in agriculture. We realize that we can apply that, if we introduce subsidies and grants envisaged in the European Union. As it will be difficult to compete," said the Head of Government.
He stressed that the ongoing roundtable on the Concept of reforming the tax system of Ukraine will afford to hear all views and outline further joint actions. He also called on the farmers to engage constructively in the discussion.
