OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2014. Fourteen free electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have been installed in Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Economy Long-term Parking Lot C, located at 96th Street and Sepulveda Boulevard.  Electrical charging is free. However, users must pay the posted parking rate.

Lot C provides frequent, free shuttle buses to and from the Central Terminal Area, stopping in front of  each terminal.  The parking lot has more than 7,300 parking spaces.  Parking for large trucks, trailers, and campers is prohibited.

Installation of these EV charging stations brings to 66 the total number of stations at all airports owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA).  In addition to the 14 in Lot C at LAX, 20 charging stations are located in Parking Structure 1, and 18 more in Parking Structure 6 in the Central Terminal Area.  There are six at LA/Ontario International Airport (ONT), three each in Lots 2 and 4. Eight are installed on the ground level of the Van Nuys Airport (VNY) FlyAway® parking facility.

The latest 14 stations were provided by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power as part of its "Charge Up L.A.!" program that provides rebate assistance to qualifying customers for home, workplace, and public charging.
