Another 2 Moldovan Villages to Enjoy Tap Water
OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2014. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca today paid a visit to the Risipeni village, north-western Falesti district, to check works on constructing an aqueduct. Thus, in less than two years, over two thousand inhabitants of the villages of Bocsa and Risipeni will receive drinking tap water, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
"The aqueduct is not only important, because it provides water to every household, but also given that it is good quality water. Our goal is, that no later than 2020, every citizen has access to high quality water and sewerage networks,” said the prime minister.
According to local authorities, the Falesti district is facing the worst situation in terms of drinking water’s quality. Water from most wells contains fluoride, exceeding two to three times the permissible limits allowed by the sanitary norms.
The works on building the aqueduct are conducted within a project titled “Supply with drinking water and sewerage of the inhabitants in Bocsa and Risipeni villages and social-cultural institutions" and the cost is over 30 million dollars. The money was offered by the National Fund for Regional Development (NFRD). At the same time, the community contributed with 1,800,000 lei.
In addition to the 21.8 kilometres of the constructed water supply networks, a water treatment plant will also be built within the project. Over 800 households, seven public institutions and 12 businesses will have access to the aqueduct. At the same time, a company providing water supply services will be created. Risipeni mayor Gheorghe Rusu pointed out that this would create 25 jobs, and subsequently the water supply system would be extended to the neighbouring settlement – Izvoare - to provide drinking water to more than two thousand people.
The mayor thanked the government for the provided support. "This is the first time I received money from the state to repair the road. We are talking about roughly 3 million lei and I can firmly say that developing infrastructure in rural settlements will bring the young people home", said Gheorghe Rusu.
The prime minister said the government would do its utmost to create jobs in Moldova. "We need to create jobs at home – with good water, with health, with good education," said Iurie Leanca.
