PM of Moldova Visits Hydroponic Greenhouse
OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2014. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca visited a hydroponic greenhouse from the Falestii Noi settlement.
The greenhouse has an area of one hectare, where tomatoes and cucumbers are cultivated exclusively for the local market during all the year, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The greenhouse was built by the enterprise Polimer Gaz Conducte three years ago, according to an advanced technology, in order to conserve the thermal energy. The plants are grown without soil, in vessels with mineral wadding or coconut plates. The enterprise is the first one in Moldova combining the ecologic agriculture with the energy efficiency.
The director of the enterprise, Sergiu Cocirla, said the energy used to heat the greenhouse and to grow the vegetables was combined from the solar, thermal system, biomass, and if necessary, natural gas was used as well. Cocirla stressed that said that the most modern technologies were used here. “Everything is automatic – we may watch on a monitor how the process is carried out in the greenhouse, the temperature, and even the humidity of the soil, etc. And we may see how these parameters are observed, including from a mobile phone. This is a modern technology which must be developed. We wanted to construct a different greenhouse from what we have in Moldova, so as not to have competition and we have invested huge sums. And this to have vegetables during all the year,” the enterprise’s manager said.
For his part, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said it was very important that the agricultural sector was developing. “The use of advanced technologies will allow developing a modern agriculture, in order to get a qualitative harvest that is to win the EU market,” the prime minister stressed.
As much as 14 million lei was invested in the hydroponic greenhouse from Falestii Noi, of which almost three million represented subsidies from the state. The enterprise has 35 employees.
