OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2014. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President-elect of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a telephone conversation.

The Turkmen leader warmly congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the victory in the presidential elections and wished him good health and every success in his important work at the highest state post.

Thanking for the congratulations and kind words, the President-elect of the Republic of Turkey confirmed the continued commitment of his country to traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan attached great importance to fruitful cooperation with Turkey, the essence of which is reflected in the principle “Two states – one nation”.

During the telephone conversation the sides highly evaluated the interstate Turkmen-Turkish dialogue built on a constructive, equal and mutually beneficial basis and based on the solid foundation of centuries-old historical, cultural and spiritual affinities of the two nations.

The President of Turkmenistan and the President-elect of the Republic of Turkey discussed priority issues of bilateral relations as well as key aspects of regional cooperation that the two countries were seeking to promote. The sides also discussed the progress in implementing a number of ambitious projects by the Turkish companies in Turkmenistan.

The President of Turkmenistan and the President-elect of Turkey exchanged views on the prospects of fruitful Turkmen-Turkish cooperation in the priority areas, such as trade and economy, energy, transport and communications, and other sectors, focusing on existing ample opportunities to implement new joint projects in various fields.

Emphasizing that the humanitarian and cultural spheres were an essential component of bilateral relations, the sides called for the further intensification of the traditional dialogue in the spheres of education, science and culture.

In conclusion, the President-elect of Turkey once again thanked the President of Turkmenistan for the congratulations, stressing that the Turkish people valued the age-old ties of friendship and brotherhood with the people of Turkmenistan.

The leader of Turkmenistan invited the President-elect of the Republic of Turkey to visit our country. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The dates of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
