Ukraine Expects for 2nd IMF Tranche in Late August
OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2014. Ukraine is due to receive the second tranche from the International Monetary Fund in late August, since all the necessary requirements have been met. The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Pavlo Sheremeta stressed on air of the program "The first-person action" with the radio Era.
"Practically all the measures necessary for obtaining the second tranche from the IMF have been taken, so we are waiting for this tranche of USD 1.5 billion. We expect for the formal decision of the Directors of the Fund, which is due to be taken around August 20. The International Financial Institutions, namely the IMF and the World Bank are acting in tandem, and if we have received a positive decision of the World Bank, we have every reason to expect for a positive decision from the IMF," said Pavlo Sheremeta.
He reminded that on August 8 with the Director of the World Bank we had signed an agreement for the first loan on policy development in the financial sector worth USD 500 million. Thus, according to the head of the Ministry, in August Ukraine expects to receive from the international financial institutions around USD 2 billion that will afford to focus on macroeconomic stabilization.
“Overall all the funds will be directed to the budget. I mean, in fact, the budget expense resource will increase by USD 2 billion,” the Minister explained.
At that, the chairman of the Ministry of Economic Development emphasized he considers fair and current the requirements set forth by the international financial institutions and, first of all, the entire Ukrainian society to advance faster along the ways of reforms. Moreover, he highlighted readiness of the Ukrainian Government to stir up holding reforms.
