OREANDA-NEWS. The new elevated roadways on the east side of Denver International Airport (DIA) are nearly complete, but to finish concrete work on the new Level 6 East bridge, crews will close the Terminal East passenger drop-off area completely from 10 p.m. August 22 through 4 a.m. August 24. The closure will allow workers to pour the final piece of concrete connecting the new elevated roadway to the Terminal East Level 6 passenger drop-off area. During the closure, motorists will use Level 4 East for both passenger pick-up and drop-off.

“We will be pouring the final piece of the new Level 6 elevated roadway, which requires us to restrict vehicle traffic near the area in order to allow the concrete to achieve the needed level of strength before traffic resumes on the bridge,” said Stu Williams, program manager for the project. “Once the concrete is set, we will open the bridge and our disruptions to traffic on the east side of Jeppesen Terminal will essentially be complete.”

Delays are likely for those picking up and dropping off passengers on the east side of Jeppesen Terminal. Passengers are strongly advised to arrive at the airport two hours in advance of their flight's scheduled departure, especially those flying out on Saturday, August 23.

During the 30-hour closure beginning at 10 p.m. August 22 and lasting through 4 a.m. August 24, vehicle restrictions will be in place for the east side of Jeppesen Terminal. All vehicles more than eight feet in height must use Terminal West.

Airlines located on Terminal East include AirTran, Alaska Air, Delta, Frontier, Great Lakes, JetBlue, Southwest and Spirit Airlines.

With the opening of the new elevated roadway on Level 6 East, all of the bridges on the south side of the terminal are now in their permanent alignments. Minor traffic disruptions are possible until all finishing work is completed on the project.
