OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2014. Telecommunication Company TEO will invite suppliers to sign a renewed Supplier Code of Conduct.

The company will set higher requirements of ethical behavior, fight against corruption and for human rights, safety and health of employees, environmental protection. The biggest attention in the current Suppliers Code of Conduct was dedicated to environment.

TEO pays a lot of attention to the quality of service, which is related not only with company‘s business, but also with activity of goods and services providers. The company aims to work only with responsible suppliers.
 
“We have to behave responsibly not only in our immediate activities, but also to encourage our suppliers to deploy principles of sustainable business. We aim to work with partners who have values alike with TEO business concept. We would also like our suppliers to encourage such behavior among their partners, thus aiming for responsibility throughout entire supply chain,” – says Mr. Kestutis Sliuzas, General Director of TEO.
 
Care about ethics of suppliers is important to all TeliaSonera group of companies. It is obligatory for all goods and services providers.
 
A lot of attention in the renewed Suppliers Code of Conduct is dedicated to supplier’s employees. TEO suppliers shall pay attention to workplace conditions of employees, health and safety requirements, follow nondiscriminatory provisions.
 
One more important TEO requirement to suppliers is not to tolerate corruption. Being part of UN Global Compact and one of the founders of community initiative Baltoji banga (engl. White wave), TEO follows principle of zero tolerance to corruption.
 
The suppliers need to ensure that there are no harmful and prohibited materials in products. With this aim, list of prohibited materials is attached to the Code of Conduct. Responsible suppliers are required not only to meet general environment requirements, but also to undertake additional measures; seek for energy efficiency and reduce impact on environment.
 
TEO will ask suppliers to provide information about its responsible activities each year, will organize meetings, trainings for suppliers to present topics related with principles of Code of Conduct. TEO encourages its suppliers to follow principles of ethical business since 2010.
