OREANDA-NEWS. August 11, 2014. Inflation seems under control, based on today's release of the consumer price index by Statistics Estonia.

The CPI decreased 0.2 percent in July compared to the month before, and dropped 0.4 percent from the same period last year, the reporting bureau said.

The drop was powered mostly by dropping prices in clothing and footwear, which saw an overall decrease in price of 4.7 percent from June to July.

Over the previous 12 months, goods were on the whole 0.7 percent cheaper and services were 0.1 percent more expensive. Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 0.3 percent and non-regulated prices declined by 0.7 percent.

The consumer price index during that span was influenced the most by vegetables, which were 23 percent cheaper; electricity, heat energy and fuels, which cost on average 2.9 percent less, and mobile communication services, which were 13 percent cheaper.

Motor fuel prices have only risen 0.6 percent in the last 12 months.
