OREANDA-NEWS. August 07, 2014. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which domestic policy issues and draft documents were considered.

The Vice Premiers presented the reports. The reports spotlighted the preparations for the talks on the quadripartite agreement on the draft Memorandum concerning the practical implementation of the Agreement on an international transport transit corridor and the signing of it, which will be held in the Sultanate of Oman.

As is known, the abovementioned agreement was signed in Ashgabat in April 2011 during the summit with the participation of the representatives of Turkmenistan and the delegations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the State of Qatar.

The information on the preparations for the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmenistan-Pakistan Commission, which will take place in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on August 7-8, was presented.

The report on the preparations for a regular session of Mejlis, during which the draft laws on international commercial arbitration, communication by government courier, notarial system and notarial activity, foreign economic activity, electric power, food quality and safety, innovative activity, think and technology parks, ecological analysis, among others would be discussed, was presented. The information on the preparations for a meeting of the Elders’ Council, which will be held in Lebap Velayat, was presented.

The report on ongoing seasonal agricultural activities was presented. Agricultural workers were engaged in inter-row cultivation of crops, irrigation and application of mineral fertilizers in cotton fields. The preparation of 36 ginneries and 160 cotton procurement stations for the upcoming ‘white’ campaign was in full swing. Farmers in Mary Velayat had launched the sugar beet campaign.

The detailed information on the festive programme to mark the Turkmen Melon Day, which is celebrated each year on the second Sunday of August in our country, was presented.

The information on the results of the international tender of Turkmengeologiya State Corporation for complex seismic investigations was presented. Exploration work will be carried out in Goturdepe and Northern Goturdepe and a number of other oil and gas pools in the western region of the country.

The reports spotlighted the preparations for the International Folk Music and Song Festival Avaza-2014, which will be held on August 12-14, the preparations for the XVII Conference of the Humanitarian Association of the Turkmen of the World, which will be held in Ashgabat on October 23.

It was reported that in January-July the production rate of non-metallic materials at the enterprises of the Ministry of Industry made 122.6 percent as compared with the same period of 2013.

The report on the preparations for the participation of Turkmenistan in Milan Expo 2015 was presented.

The report spotlighted the measures taken to introduce bar codes for products manufactured in Turkmenistan to ensure the implementation of the rights of consumers and provide them with necessary and reliable information and enhance the competitiveness of domestically manufactured goods.

The information on the results of the international tender for the selection of a consulting company for the construction of Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway was presented. The information on the measures taken to establish the Directorate of Road Construction under the Ministry of Motor Transport was presented.

The Turkmen leader signed a number of documents on the appointment and dismissal of high-ranking officials. The President released Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan T. Komekov from his post as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Georgia. President of Turkmenistan signed the Decrees on the conferring of the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to D. Muratov and his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Georgia (Tbilisi).

Other issues were considered and the decisions were adopted during the government meeting.
