OREANDA-NEWS. August 07, 2014. A protocol was signed in Beijing stating that the warranty period covering core equipment at the 500,000 SWU/year capacity Unit 4 of China’s gaseous centrifuge uranium enrichment plant (GCP) had expired and confirming that TENEX had fully discharged all obligations under its contract with the China Nuclear Energy Industry Сorporation (CNEIC).
 
This contract for technical assistance in the construction of a fourth GCP module in China was concluded between TENEX and CNEIC on 27 August 2008 under the 6 November 2007 Protocol to the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on cooperation in the construction of a GCP in China dated 18 December 1992.
 
Under the contract, the Russian side designed the main process facilities, supplied major process and auxiliary equipment, provided consultation services during the installation and commissioning stages, and carried out field supervision and training for Chinese specialists in Russia.

The warranty period for the GCP’s auxiliary equipment expired in July 2012. During the contract’s performance period, the Chinese side did not make any complaints regarding equipment quality.
