Height of One Million Overcame by St. Mykolai Floating Crane
OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2014. St. Mykolai self-propelled floating crane built at Romanian shipyard “Santierul Naval Constanta” started to operate in the outer roads of Mykolayiv Sea Commercial Port in August last year.
The main task of Ukraine’s most productive transshipment crane is to load PANAMAX vessels full in the roads.
Symbolically, this production height was taken on July 27, on the Day of Ukraine’s Fleet, during loading of NORD TRAVELLER motor vessel in the roads. Totally, the vessel’s holds received more than 49 thousand tons of Ukrainian rapeseed, and the vessel was bound for United Arab Emirates.
The use of own crane contributes to the company’s export success. Besides, NIBULON’s powerful cargo fleet has already shipped more than 1.26 million tons of agricultural commodities (including for export) during this year’s navigation.
By the way, the nameplate daily capacity of the crane comprises up to 20 thousand tons which is equal to the capacity of NIBULON’s main grain terminal in Mykolayiv city. The crane also can replace up to 10 such vessels operating in Ukraine’s market.
We would remind you that the self-propelled crane was built within the implementation of the global project to revive navigation along Ukraine’s waterways. According to the project tasks, the company is building tugs of POSS-115 at its own shipbuilding and repair yard “NIBULON”. Further shipbuilding plans include construction of 12 non-self-propelled vessels of NBL-91 project, 12 river tugs of POSS-121 project, and 35 self-propelled vessels.
