Enel Confirmes on Euronext-Vigeo Sustainability Indices
OREANDA-NEWS. Enel and its subsidiary Endesa have been once again confirmed in the Euronext-Vigeo Sustainability Indices. Both companies have been included in these indices since they were first launched in early 2013. The indices, which are updated once every six months, acknowledge the efforts of leading companies placing sustainable development at the core of their business agenda. Specifically, Enel has been ranked on the Euronext-Vigeo World 120, Euronext-Vigeo Europe 120 and Euronext-Vigeo Eurozone 120 indices. Endesa has been ranked on the Euronext-Vigeo Europe 120 and Eurozone 120 indices. The three indices list the top 120 companies for their corporate social responsibility performance out of the 1500 public companies with the largest free-float market capitalization worldwide, in Europe and the Eurozone respectively.
The indices were launched by Euronext, the first pan-European exchange, and Vigeo. The latter, based in France, is the leading European expert in the assessment of companies and organizations with regard to their practices and performance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
Vigeo draws its indices by analysing nearly 330 indicators for each company based on 38 criteria including respect for the environment; human rights engagement and recognition of companies' human capital; relations with stakeholders; corporate governance and business ethics; integrity in influencing policy and efforts to fight corruption; and the prevention of social and environmental dumping in the supply and subcontracting chain.
The inclusion in those three indices stands alongside Enel Group's participation in the world's leading sustainability indices such as: Dow Jones Sustainability Index World, Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe, Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index, Carbon Performance Leadership Index, FTSE4Good and Newsweek Green Ranking. The inclusion in these indices confirm Enel as a global benchmark in the incorporation of corporate responsibility in business decisions, as well as rewarding the Group's sustainability profile.
