OREANDA-NEWS. CLT Works to Complete Roundabout at Intersection of Rental Car and Old Dowd Roads.

Vehicles entering and exiting the terminal at the corner of Rental Car and Old Dowd roads are being diverted onto sections of the Airport's new roundabout. Drivers can expect stop-and-go traffic for the next two weeks as crews work to complete the roundabout by mid-August.

The roundabout will replace the three way stop currently at that intersection and help to alleviate traffic congestion in the area, while also giving drivers easier access to Rental Car Road.  The construction is part of the\\$21.5 million Josh Birmingham realignment project (new entrance road), which opened in April.

Work, meanwhile, continues on the Airport's new exit lanes that will connect drivers leaving the terminal directly to Wilkinson Boulevard and I-85. It will be completed by the end of the year. The new roadway, along with construction of the terminal eastside expansion, checked baggage in-line system, Norfolk Southern Intermodal facility, terminal roadway expansion and new Hourly Deck and Rental Car Facility, are all part of CLT 2015.
