Harvesting Begins in Southern Regions of Kazakhstan
OREANDA-NEWS. July 31, 2014. Harvesting began in the southern regions of Kazakhstan. It has been announced by the Chairman of the Committee of the state inspection in the agricultural sector of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Saktash Khasenov at the briefing.
According to him, harvesting started in Almaty, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan and South Kazakhstan regions. S. Khasenov also reported that it is expected that this year the grain harvest will be two times more than in last year in WKO.
As he emphasized, it is important to be prepared for storage and harvest processing to date. According to statistics, there are 239 enterprises that have granaries for 13 million tons. In addition, the farms have granaries for 9 million tons.
"According to statistics, republic’s granaries have about 4 million tons of grain as of today. This year's harvest is scheduled to be above average. We believe that this will be enough to achieve both domestic consumption and export," S. Khasenov said.
"The Agriculture Ministry of Kazakhstan plans this year to gather 17 mln tons of grain in bunker weight across the country," head of the state agroindustrial inspection committee Saktash Khassenov said.
Irregular rainfalls caused abnormal situation in grain-sowing regions. Above 70% of grains are still flowering.
According to him, this year the average crop yield is expected to reach 15 centners per hectare.
