Belarus Earmarks USD 8 bln to Take Care of External Debt in 2014-2015
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus will spend about USD 4 billion in 2014 and just as much in 2015 to take care of its external liabilities, Prime-Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich told reporters Monday.
In his words, the government does not plan to increase its external debt.
“In no way will we follow the path of increasing the external state. On the contrary, we will put maximum efforts into repaying the existing debt,” the premier said.
In his words, Belarus plans to keep to itself as much as USD 1.5 billion in proceeds from export duties on oil products in 2015. That money will be used to pay off external debts, the premier said.
The year 2014 and 2015 will be a complicated period for Belarus from the point of view of repaying the government's external debt, Myasnikovich said. “But we are managing to pass this peak and there will be no shocks on the currency market,” he said.
