OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2014. Estonian Air informs that the Malaysia Airlines jet crash yesterday in eastern Ukraine has not until now influenced the operations on the Tallinn-Kiev route, flights to/from Kiev are operated according to the flight schedule. Estonian Air’s airway to Kiev goes far from the region affected by crisis.

Indrek Randveer, Member of the Board and Chief Commercial Officer at Estonian Air, confirmed that none of Estonian Air flights, including flights to Kiev, fly over the territory of south-eastern Ukraine. “Ukraine is one of the biggest countries in Europe in terms of area and as our airway goes 700km from the conflict zone, we operate like other airlines,” says Randveer. He explained that airspace over Kiev is open, and flights to Kiev continue according to the flight schedule.

Customers’ safety is our first priority, and, therefore, the company pays close attention to what is happening in Ukraine. We are in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Estonian Civil Aviation Administration, will follow their as well as international aviation organizations’ recommendations, and take further action based on the information received.
