Moldovan, Belarusian Officials Discuss Bilateral Economic Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2014. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Andrian Candu met a delegation of Belarus and discussed the bilateral economic cooperation in the context of signing by Moldova of the Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA).
According to the Economics Ministry’s communication and media relations service, the main topics were focused on the access of goods on Moldovan market, technical barriers in commerce, recognition of certificates of conformity, application of sanitary and phytosanitary measures, as well as observance of rules of origin of goods, Subsequently, the delegation visited the Moldovan-Belarusian enterprises for assembling tractors and trolleys.
Candu backed the need to maintain and develop the economic relations with the traditional partners. He assured that the government paid a special attention to observing rules of origin of the goods in order to prevent illegal re-exports of goods. Candu assured that a permanent dialogue with Belarus would be set on all existing platforms, at all stages for implementing provisions of DCFTA between Moldova and the EU, so that all barriers should be excluded in the way of bilateral trade and economic ties between the two countries.
Additionally, Candu presented the cooperation opportunities provided by Moldova in the machinery industry on the platform of industrial parks and Free Economic Areas. The Belarusian delegation expressed interest to develop potential in the field, by opening factories in Moldova.
The sides agreed to continue the practice of organizing bilateral consultations and monitoring mutual trade. In the context, sectorial working groups will be set up, if needed. Also, the sides agreed to organize a meeting of Moldovan-Belarusian joint commission on economic cooperation in Minsk on 24-25 October.
