OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2014. The United States of America will contribute with over 10 million dollars to economic development programmes in Moldova in 2014.

A special emphasis will be put on the competitiveness of the private sector in agriculture, according to a press release by the U.S. embassy in Chisinau.

The U.S. assistance is directed inclusively to train Moldovan farmers.

“We are working on increasing the international competitiveness of the Moldovan high-value agriculture, especially of apples, grapes, products cultivated in glasshouses, peaches and cherries. We also support Moldova’s efforts to comply with the EU standards,” the communique reads.

Starting from 2011, the USA has invested 7.8 million dollars in post-harvesting infrastructure for three high-value agricultural networks.
