OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2014. The internet festival of the national domain UZ has started in our country. It is organized by the State Committee for Communications, Information and Telecommunications Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Center for the Development and Introduction of Computer and Information Technologies UZINFOCOM and the magazine InfoCOM.UZ.

At the press conference that took place in connection of that occasion, the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Communications, Information and Telecommunications Technologies A.Faizullaev and other noted that one of the priorities of the process of wide-scale reforms in the information sphere in our country spearheaded under the leadership of President Islam Karimov is the ubiquitous spread of internet and the provision for its accessibility for the population.

The annually held internet festival of the national domain UZ serves to popularize the internet among wider strata of the population, to assist in the development of national content and expand the sphere of application of the Uzbek language in the worldwide information web.

This year around, the internet festival is underway from July 15 through to September 22. To take part in the festival, one should fill in the special application form for registration present on the official website of the festival at www.if.uz. The application deadline is September 1, 2014.

The competition program of the festival includes 10 thematic and 2 specialized nominations. The program contains special awards from the national search system WWW.UZ for the participants of each of the 10 thematic nominations. 10 sites are to be announced winners who will have gathered, within a certain span of time, the highest number of hosts among the participants of each thematic nomination. In addition, five laureates of the festival are to be identified. In each nomination, participants are to awarded the first, second and third places with diplomas and festival prizes. This year, the festival is also to award the best mobile attachments invented by local software programmers, as well as sites of communities in social networks.

The festival summary ceremony is scheduled for the first day of the Information Technologies Week – InfoCOM 2014.
