OREANDA-NEWS. CROC has expanded the range of its SaaS services to include business intelligence (Business Intelligence as a Service, BIaaS).

This solution is intended for major organizations that look to reduce their capital expenses and speed up managerial decision making. CROC's new cloud service is powered by EMC Greenplum and represents a solution of the Big Data level. This tool lets you analyze and compare large volumes of data, compute key performance indicators, and make business decisions bypassing the stage of capital expenses for software and license purchases and infrastructure upgrades. The service can be leased by customers on a pay-as-you-go basis. It is also available from any global location via a standard web browser.

The solution currently supports three possible data management scenarios: retail analytics, analysis of contact center performance indicators, and review of the organization's management practices for conformance to KPIs.

The service has been already tested by a major retailer as part of a pilot project. CROC's cloud storage gathered data from accounting systems of all participants in the customer's sales chain. This enabled points of sale to apply correct price markups for goods based on the spread of prices across all points of sale. The distributor was in turn able to evaluate performance of the points of sale. BIaaS is not the first CROC service powered by EMC technologies. The company's portfolio also features a backup service (Backup as a Service, BaaS) that keeps customer data secure in case of a disaster or other emergencies. BaaS is powered by EMC Avamar products with deduplication technology, which reduces the cost of channel operation by transmitting only modified data blocks during each backup session.
