OREANDA-NEWS. TELEHOUSE EUROPE, a European subsidiary of KDDI, has announced a total investment of 135 million pound (24 billion yen) to construct TELEHOUSE LONDON Docklands North Two (referred to below as "North Two"), a large-scale data center with a total floor area of 23,000 square meters located in the Docklands area of London, UK. The new data center will increase the total floor space of all facilities, including the four existing data centers (North, East, West, and Metro), to 73,000 square meters, making TELEHOUSE the largest data center provider in London, UK.

With the launch of North Two, the network of data centers that meet TELEHOUSE global standard will span 43 sites in 24 cities in 13 regions around the world, and the total floor space of all data centers will measure approximately 365,000 square meters.

KDDI Group launched the TELEHOUSE data center brand in 1989 and opened TELEHOUSE LONDON Docklands North (referred to below as "North") in the UK in 1990. North is home to the London Internet Exchange (LINX), a major Internet exchange point (IX) used by over 300 global telecommunications operators. In addition to supporting the majority of UK Internet traffic, it plays an important role as a safe and secure global Internet hub.

To satisfy customers who demand high-quality, high-capacity electric power, North Two will be equipped with an on-site electrical substation with a high power supply capability, and it will provide ample colocation space and a high level of connectivity.

UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP said: "It's good news that Japanese ICT company KDDI has decided to invest a further GBP 135 million into their global data centre at the Docklands. Britain's economy is growing thanks to Japanese investment and in 2013/14 they were the second biggest investor into the UK starting over 100 new projects and creating 3,000 new jobs."

Moving forward, the KDDI Group will continue to provide high-quality, attentive services that support the global business operations of customers, by leveraging the expertise of TELEHOUSE, which is recognized as a top data center provider and has an extensive record of achievement in over 20 years of service mostly in Europe and America.
