SPI Solar Sells Planned 50MW PV Project in China
OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2014. PV project developer, SPI Solar a majority owned subsidiary of bankrupt Cayman Island registered LDK Solar as sold a recently announced 50MW project to Xinyu Zhongzhi Guoxiang New Energy Electric Power Investment Development.
SPI Solar had announced plans to build the project via its China-based subsidiary, Xinyu Xinwei New Energy Co at the beginning of July.
Financial details were not disclosed.
Xinyu Zhongzhi has also signed an EPC contract with Xinyu Xinwei for a 21MW project in Jiangxi Province. Construction of the second was expected to begin in the third quarter of 2014 and completed by the end of 2014.
The combined 71MW project deals were said to be the largest EPC contracts the SPI Solar subsidiary has secured to date.
It was not revealed whether the projects would deploy PV modules manufactured by LDK Solar in China. SPI Solar previously had secured project funding from China Development Bank that stipulated the use of modules from LDK Solar.
