Volume of Cargo Transportations in Moldova Grew by 10,8%
OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2014. As it was informed in the National Bureau of statistics, in June 2014 enterprises of railway, road, river and air transport, Moldova transported 1 million 277.2 tons of cargo, which is 21.7% more than in the previous month and 14.2% higher than in June 2013.
In the whole in January-June 2014 railway transport carried more than 2 million 226,6 thousand tons of cargoes, or 5,6% more, than at the same period of 2013. The largest share in the total volume of goods loaded at railway stations during the first 6 months of 2014 accounted for grain and flour products - 41,6% (in January-June 2013 - 23,2%), ferrous metals and scrap metal - 16,9% (22.8 per cent), construction materials and cement - 6,8% (13.8%).
The volume of freight traffic by motor transport in January-June 2014 grew by 14.2%- up to 3 million 248,7 thousand tons. Most significant volumes of transportations by motor transport in this period were enterprises of Chisinau (56,8%) and Balti (7,2%), followed by Nisporeni (5%), Ialoveni (4,5%), Straseni (4,1%), Sinjerei (3,3%), Floresti and Anenii Noi (2,6%), Taraclia (1,8%), Rezina (1,6%), Orhei (1,6%), Edinet (1,5%), Hincesti, Soroca, Riscani regions and Gagauzia (1.1%). Cargo transportation by river transport in the first half of 2014 increased by 30.4% compared with the same period of 2013 and made up 76.4 thousand tons, air transport - decreased by 43.4% - up to 0.3 thousand tons.
