100 Undergraduates and 50 PhDs to Be Trained in Kazakhstan
OREANDA-NEWS. July 25, 2014. General framework agreement on integration of science and education has been signed between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and heads of scientific organizations of the Science Committee, Ministry of Education and Science in Almaty.
The head of the MES Aslan Sarinzhipov attended the signing ceremony.
KazNU 10 academic institutions of the Science Committee, MES will begin a joint training of 100 undergraduates and 50 PhDs from September 1, 2014.
"Today, we have launched a pilot project,where the teachers will be the scientists of research institutes. They will impart knowledge to the new generation. Feature of the project is that undergraduates in Mathematics will be able to learn another program in the Institute than mathematics in KazNU. Thereby, the competition and development of quality education are toachieved," Aslan Sarinzhipov said.
According to him, this project will be implemented in other universities. Such work is already underway at K.Satpayev KazNTU. Thanks to the project, cooperation with competent scientists will contribute to higher training of scientific manpower.
"In addition, we are going to hold a meeting on work with the agrarian system. We plan to develop new programs to prepare undergraduates and PhDs, who will be close to science, and to production. The quality of our education should be increased," the Minister said.
According to A. Sarinzhipov, Kazakhstan plans to increase science expenditures up to 3% of GDP by 2050.
"Financing of science has grown almost 2.5 times - from 20 billion tenge in 2010 to 53 billion tenge in 2013. Therefore, it is planned to increase science expenditures up to 3% of GDP step-by-step in accordance with the Strategy "Kazakhstan 2050" in Kazakhstan," the head of the MES said in the meeting on development of science in Almaty.
A. Sarinzhipov noted that this issue is the one of the most acute problems of the scientific sphere - its material and technical equipment and modern equipment and instruments. There should be an increase in funding for the purchase of new equipment for scientific research institutes and universities to establish a system for monitoring the status and development of technological base of Kazakhstan’s science.
"We need to work on attracting private sector funds into science. According to the statistics, the gross inflows of foreign direct investment in Kazakhstan in the sphere of scientific research increased by 2.3 times in 2013 compared to the previous year," the Minister resumed.
