Lufthansa Group Opens Parent-Child Office
OREANDA-NEWS. Lufthansa supports employees with short-term childcare problems. Parent-Child Office opened in the Lufthansa Aviation Center at Frankfurt International Airport.
Already on entering the new Parent-Child Office on the ground floor of the Lufthansa Group office building at Frankfurt Airport, it is clear that this is no ordinary workplace. In addition to the desks, the cot, the cozy corner and the toy shop are sure to catch the eye. Children can easily keep themselves occupied here, while one of their parents is at work in the same room.
The Parent-Child Office is open to parents with children up to the age of 12 years. It is available to employees who have short-term problems with care for their children. "We want to show our employees: even in this situation, we are there for them", said Bettina Volkens, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, responsible for Corporate Human Resources and Legal Affairs at the opening ceremony of the Parent-Child Office.
If childcare is organized in general, but is not available at short notice, because the regular child-carer is ill, the day care centre is closing earlier, the babysitter is unavailable or the parents simply want to bring their children with them, the Parent-Child Office is the uncomplicated solution. The Lufthansa Group is operating the new facility in a one-year pilot project in the Lufthansa Aviation Center (LAC) at Frankfurt Airport.
The Lufthansa Group is making two standard workstations with PCs and phones available in the LAC. There, parents can work, while their children, under supervision in the same room, can keep themselves occupied with existing books and toys. The workstations can be booked separately via an internal reservation system on the principle of "first come - first served".
