OREANDA-NEWS.    Latvian airline, airBaltic, today brought the 10 millionth transit passenger to the Riga airport since the Latvian independence. The 10 millionth transit passenger – Christian Suhl, flew on the route from Brussells to Riga, for a subsequent trip to Tallinn.

Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic: " We are delighted that airBaltic together with its partners offer smooth transfers at Riga airport with a minimum of 25-minute connections between international flights, including efficient transit between Schengen and non-Schengen countries. This year we also launched a brand new bus service to link our Riga hub with regional centres in the Baltics. The bus schedule is synchronised with airBaltic flight arrival and departure times, in order to offer a convenient service to our customers.”

To strengthen Riga as a transfer hub, airBaltic has introduced six new destinations for summer 2014 - Burgas and Varna (Bulgaria), Palma de Mallorca (Spain), Bucharest (Romania), Gothenburg (Sweden),  and Aberdeen (Scotland, within the UK).

As announced recently, airBaltic achieved a net profit of EUR +1 million for the full year of 2013, one year ahead of the initial business turnaround schedule. airBaltic serves 60 destinations with direct flights from its home base in Riga, Latvia.
