OREANDA-NEWS. National Grid is delivering the latest phase of its vital upgrade to the South Essex Overhead Power Line which runs between its substations at Tilbury, Rayleigh and Coryton.

The work began recently and continues a refurbishment scheme that began last summer and which is due to be completed in October 2014.

Graham Livings, Project Manager, National Grid said: “This major investment by National Grid will provide modern high-capacity cables which will help ensure people continue to enjoy safe and reliable electricity supplies in the future.

“We're keen to minimise disruption for road users wherever possible and are working closely with Essex County Council as we plan and deliver the project.”

The replacement of the lines will not have an impact on the local power supply, as the flow of electricity will be re-routed through other National Grid lines.

To enable the work to be carried out scaffolding will be put up over the A13, A130 at Saddlers Farm, the B1464 London Road and the A130/A1245 slip road and main North Bound and South Bound A130 carriageway.

A number of off peak lane and slip road closures will be needed to enable work and deliveries to take place.

These will be implemented as follows:

A13/A130 Saddlers Farm Interchange will be closed from 10pm to 5am between the following dates:

Thursday 11 September to Sunday 14 September 2014

Saturday 20 September to Friday 26 September 2014

Saturday 4 October to Thursday 9 October 2014

Tuesday 14 October to Friday 17 October 2014

Thursday 23 October to Sunday 26 October 2014

A130/A1245 will be closed from 10am to 3pm on the following dates

Monday 15 September to Friday 19 September 2014

Monday 29 September to Friday 3 October 2014

The A130/A1245 slip road will be closed from 10pm to 5am between the following dates:

Saturday 13 September to Sunday 14 September 2014

Sunday 14 September to Monday 15 September 2014

Saturday 4 October to Sunday 5 October 2014

Sunday 5 October , Monday 6 October 2014

The main A130 between A1245 roundabout and Hawks Hill junction will be closed from 10pm to 5am between the following dates

Sunday 28 September to Monday 29 September 2014

The B1464 London Road will be closed between Pound Lane and Sadlers Interchange between 1am and 4am as follows:
