Rosselkhoznadzor Banns Import of Fruits from Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2014. As it is reported by the Russian office, this decision on imposition of temporary restrictions on import from Moldova to Russia of such types of regulated products like fresh apples, pears, quinces, fresh apricots, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums and sloes.
In addition, a ban on import of plant products in hand luggage and baggage of passengers arriving from Moldova. The Deputy Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Alexei Saurin informed about this during telephone conversation with the Director of the National Agency for food safety of Moldova Ion Sulu.
The negotiations were held on the initiative of the Russian side. The decisions were taken by Rosselhoznadzorom in connection with the ongoing violations of international and Russian requirements for the deliveries of Moldavian plant products to the Russian market, in particular, with the identification of new batches of fruits infected with Oriental moth. Ion Sula noted that the competent authorities of Moldova pay great attention to the safety of products exported, although he acknowledged that full laboratory control consignments destined for shipment to Russia.
In the opinion of the Russian side, it is this circumstance that is due to the large number of violations during export of Moldavian plant products to Russia, which may result in introduction of quarantine organisms, which in turn can lead to substantial losses for agriculture of Russia.
