OREANDA-NEWS. July 18, 2014. The Sbol 4x4 LCV, with pilot Aleksandr Konstrukov and navigator Eugene Pavlov, won the Great Steppe race of the third stage in the Russian championship for the Raid Sport category.

The victory of the sport version of Sobol LCV from the GAZ-Za Ruliom-Sport team, was more than convincing. The gap between the Konstrukov – Pavlov crew and the nearest runner-up amounted to 37 hours. The results of this stage helped the sportsmen to reinforce their leadership in the Russian championship.

The Great Steppe rally was held in the Republic of Kalmykia and Astrakhan Region from the 9-th to the 12-th of July. The sportsmen covered over 1000 km of complicated mixed routes where the roads ran through the soft sand dunes. The scorching heat and the complicated route were an additional challenge for the crews and the engines of their vehicles. As a result, out of 33 crews that started in Elista on the 9-th of July, only 20 made it to the finish in Astrakhan. The victorious achievement of the Sobol 4x4 vehicle confirmed both the mastership of the pilot and the navigator and the high reliability of the off-roader made by GAZ.
