OREANDA-NEWS. July 17, 2014. Deng Qilin, president and secretary of the party committee of WISCO welcomed the Director General of World Steel Association—Edwin Basson. Two sides exchanged the ideas in the development of world steel industry.

Mr. Basson expressed thanks to WISCO for the great support to World Steel Association. He also expressed that global integration and cooperation are the mainstream of economic development today. The speech on the growth of WISCO mining business worldwide addressed by Deng Qilin in 2012 was fresh in his mind. Mr. Basson stressed the importance of research on The Assessment of Full Life Cycle of Steel Products, which under the great support of WISCO, could prove the superiority of steel products in the fields of auto making and construction so as to reduce the environment pollution.

Deng Qilin extended warm welcome to Mr. Basson’s visit. He said that peace and development are the main themes in the world today. He hoped World Steel Association could apply the newest research fruits to guide the consumption worldwide and instruct the development of steel industry. Under the guidance of Taking Iron and Steel as Main Business and Promoting Moderately Diversified Development, WISCO made the steel business stronger; meanwhile, we took advantages of brand, technology and management to promote diversified businesses in aspects of mining, hi-tech industry, international trading etc. Furthermore, to better encounter crisis and achieve growth, WISCO carried out internal reform and deepened the cooperation with world famous enterprises. In recent years, WISCO has steadfastly kept the bottom line without deficit. The profit rates of diversified businesses in subsidiaries have reached 20%. Deng expressed that WISCO looked forward to expanding communication and cooperation with World Steel Association and making contribution to the Association and world steel industry as well.
