3 New Radio Stations to Air in Fall in Estonia
OREANDA-NEWS. July 17, 2014. The Technical Surveillance Authority has handed out licenses to one international, 12 national and 16 local radio stations for the next five years.
A total of 36 radio stations applied for a license for the 2014-19 period, beginning in November, with most existing stations green-lighted for the new period.
Of the three newcomers, Estonian-language Hit FM will begin broadcasting in Harju, Tartu and Parnu counties, Novoje Radio, in Russian, will air in Tallinn and Harju County. Jumor FM, a humor-based radio station also in Russian, will replace Russian-language Euro FM (104.9), which has been in operation since 2004.
