Volaris Begins International Service to Chihuahua from Denver
OREANDA-NEWS. Denver International Airport (DEN) today congratulates Volaris on beginning nonstop service to Chihuahua (CUU). Volaris also recently inaugurated nonstop service between Denver and Guadalajara on July 7.
DEN's international nonstop destinations have increased by more than 30 percent since 2011 to a total of 24 destinations with recent service additions on various airlines to Reykjavik, Iceland (KEF); Tokyo, Japan (NRT); Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ), and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).
It is so rewarding to see the economic benefits from air service development in Denver, said Denver Mayor Michael Hancock. Volaris entered into the Denver market late 2012 with a single route to Mexico City and is already adding two more to Guadalajara and Chihuahua. This move will create new economic opportunities in each city and will connect many Denver residents to family members in these regions.
Passenger traffic between Mexico City and Denver has increased nearly every month since Volaris began nonstop service between Denver and Benito Jurez International Airport in December 2012.
As with the recent addition of the Guadalajara route, we hope passengers will be equally as receptive to Volaris' new nonstop service to Chihuahua, said Kim Day, CEO of Denver International Airport. We are grateful to our partner, Volaris, for expanding its network in Denver, and we wish Volaris continued success.
Volaris will operate the Chihuahua flight once a week on Saturdays. The aircraft will arrive in Denver at 11:20 a.m. and depart to Chihuahua at 12:45 p.m.
Our goal is to provide greater and better options for the Mexican community currently residing in Colorado who are interested in visiting relatives in Mexico, specifically in Chihuahua, said Volaris CEO, Enrique Beltranena. We aim to do this safely and efficiently, without them ever having to resort to 10-hour shuttles by bus. With our greatly competitive fares, we want more people to travel with us, on board one of the youngest fleets in the Americas.
According to the US Census Bureau, 32 percent of Denver residents are Hispanic or of a Latin American descent. The city is marked by a strong presence of the Mexican community from the states of Chihuahua, Durango, Zacatecas and Jalisco. According to the Mexican Consulate in Denver, these numbers continue to rise year after year because of strong activity in Denver, Colorado's state capital.
