OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2014. A new priority field of development related to agriculture and rural development will be added to Moldova 2020 National Development Strategy.

The parliament adopted a draft to this end.

The purpose of the amendment is to strengthen the local economy and rural communities. At the same time, by doing so, it will be easier to get conceptual and financial support from development partners, international financial institutions and donors.

Listing agriculture as a priority development area was one of the farmers’ recent requirements.

The agriculture and food industry ranks second after the services sector in terms of their weight in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and first concerning the contribution to economic growth.
