New E-Estonia Showroom Shares ICT Expertise with World
OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2014. New e-Estonia showroom was opened in Tallinn’s Ulemiste City in the middle of June. “It is like a valuable time-machine, offering a glimpse into the future!” exclaims Indrek Vimberg, the technology evangelist of the showroom.
Estonia has been one of the leaders in implementing many excellent future-facing innovative IT solutions on the government level. The national e-services have been succesfully realized in the entire country and the traditional time-consuming byrocracy has been massively limited and simplified.
In order to explain and demonstrate those life-changing solutions, foreign delegations can come to visit the e-Estonia showroom to benefit from a truly eye opening experience. Instead of making your way through dozens of Estonian e-solutions with different government departments, boards, ICT companies and start-ups, one can get an idea of the future world-wide IT solutions in just one location with a guided tour of an hour and a half.
The showroom consists of two parts: the “theatre part”, where visitors receive a fast and detailed presentation about e-Estonia; and the “gallery”, where the main solutions are presented on tablets and other devices, and everyone can get hands on experience with new developments. In addition, the showroom and its team can help visitors pitch smart ideas in their home countries.
“Our goal is to show what technology enables us to do and to introduce people a different way of looking at things. We also offer a complete overview of the Estonian ICT sector network and guarantee to be able to put you in touch with the right contacts,” promises Indrek Vimberg.
The newly opened showroom is called “version 1.5” because its predecessor, “version 1”, was the Estonian ICT Demo Centre, which opened its doors five years ago. During the past five years, more than 1,300 delegations visited the Demo Centre, among them ten presidents, around twenty prime ministers, numerous ministers and business delegations. Vimberg estimates that the ICT Demo Centre was one of the most visited locations by business and political delegations to Estonia. But now, with the new upgraded, more modern and larger e-Estonia showroom the visitor numbers are most likely to double.
“Be prepared for something special. It will change the way you think!” – comment from a guest.
