PM Urges German Investors to Put Money in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2014. Prime Minister Iurie Leanca participated in a meeting of German business people, potential investors in Moldova, in Berlin, today. Leanca said the Moldovan authorities appreciated Germany’s strong support for Moldova’s European integration path and spoke out for fostering the bilateral economic ties, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
Leanca spoke about the recent evolutions in Moldova, unexploited economic potential that might interest the German enterprises. Leanca also referred to the advantages of the Association Agreement with EU, signed on 27 June and ratified by the Moldovan parliament.
„This is just the beginning of the path for Moldova to get closer to the EU principles, norms and standards, as well as to its competitiveness. The flow of new investments will allow Moldova creating new jobs, modernising industrial equipment, will increase exports and ensure a sustainable economic growth,” Leanca said.
At the same time, Leanca said the government had assumed reforms in such areas as: energy, education, finances, which were welcomed by IMF and EU. „The efforts taken so far, in order to promote a stable economy, show already the first achievements. The Gross Domestic Product increased by almost 8 per cent in 2013. Our industry rose up by 7 per cent,” Leanca said. He specified that, 10 years ago, only 14 per cent of Moldova’s GDP was generated by companies partly or totally under the management of foreign entities, whereas presently it is about 20 per cent.
„Moldova will provide all conditions for prosperity and success. Almost 400 companies with German capital have already invested in Moldova. This shows that there is a lot of potential for an added value,” Leanca said.
For their part, German businessmen said the Association Agreement with EU meant foreseeable rules and were interested in new opportunities offered by the free trade area.
