OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2014. Optic-fiber networking will appear in the villages of Kazakhstan in the course of three years, which will provide for access to the Internet at speeds of 20 Mbit per second to 3.2 million users.

"Today, internet is available in the villages by EVDO technology at a speed of 3 Mbit, and also via ADSL FTTN. In addition, 3.2 million people have access to the Internet in 1 150 rural settlements. We plan to launch a large-scale project "To village with optic" together with JSC "Kazakhtelecom" starting from the next year. Its implementation assumes that a fiber-optic network will be built over the next three years in rural areas," Head of the Agency for Communications and Information shared his plans.

As he pointed out, it is planned to provide 2.3 million people from 1 328 villages at the initial stage, reaching over 2 600 settlements in future.
