OREANDA-NEWS. July 11, 2014. The opening has become possible thanks to the support Romania's government has provided in line with the Moldovan-Romanian Understanding Memorandum signed between Moldova's Agriculture Ministry and Romania's Foreign Ministry on November 28, 2012.

To construct and equip the laboratory, over EUR 700,000 were invested, Director of the Quarantine, Identification, Arbitration Examination and Disinfection Centre Nicanor Cernautan said to InfoMarket. This amount included EUR 600,000 provided by Romania’s government and \\$150,000 (about EUR 110,000) provided by Norway.

The work of the laboratory is part of the National Plant Product Monitoring Program. Its opening allows ensuring the state control over the safety of foods supplied to the internal market and aboard. As Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Marius Lazurca said, the laboratory was opened to establish the quality control mechanism meeting European standards. The laboratory operates within the Quarantine, Identification, Arbitration Examination and Disinfection Centre.
