Metal Theft Stopped at KAMAZ Foundry
OREANDA-NEWS. The Economic Security Service of OJSC KAMAZ in close cooperation with the department of the Administration of Economic Security and Anticorruption of Tatarstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs stopped one of the largest metal thefts of late years. Naberezhnye Chelny’s city court has lately passed sentence on a case of nonferrous metal theft in the foundry of OJSC KAMAZ. Six people got a term of one to three years in a penal colony.
Pursuant to case materials, a group of six people, including five KAMAZ employees, attempted stealing nonferrous metal from May 28 to June 28 last year. Using secret hiding places they had created in their trucks, drivers M.Yamaliev, R.Sakhabiev, M.Nalisin, L.Aglyamov and P.Popov arranged a channel to steal brass and tin from the foundry, and the sixth member of the group, A.Taubert, helped selling the stolen metal.
Policemen’s professionalism enabled to register all facts of metal theft and transportation within the shortest possible time. The court considered the theft of 5,800 kg of brass and 91 kg of tin as established and classified the crime as “an attempt to steal alien property on an especially large scale covertly if the crime failed to be completed due to circumstances beyond this person’s control”.
The court sentenced the criminal participants to different terms: Yamaliev and Sakhabiev to three years in a penal colony, Nalisin and Aglyamov to two years, Popov to a year and a half, Taubert to one year of imprisonment. Also, the court made a decision to recover the company’s loss of 1.138 million roubles from the group.
