OREANDA-NEWS. Belorussian NPP: preparations are underway for erection of the containment for unit 1.

This was announced on 26th June during the meeting on construction of the Belorussian NPP.

The attendees of the meeting included representatives of the government of Republic of Belarus, the State enterprise “Belorussian NPP” (the Customer), the merged company JSC NIAEP - JSC Atomstroyexport (general designer and general contractor of the plant), Belorussian contractors and administration of the Hrodna Oblast.

According to Yuri Pustovoy, Director of construction of Belorussian NPP and Director of the representative office in Republic of Belarus, today the following works are underway at the first unit: preparation of the formwork, preparation for reinforcing and concreting the flooring of the annular floor. After these works are completed, pre-assembled blocks of the 1st tier of the internal containment will be erected, now the blocks are being prepared in the special steel works housing at the manufacturing facilities of Belorussian NPP.

Yuri Pustovoy noted that the plan for capital investment spending amounting to RUR 8,4 bn was accepted for execution starting from June 2014. If the contracting organizations fulfill the plan for June in the amount of RUR 782 mln, then at half-year end the works done will amount to RUR 3.449 bn or 41% of the yearly investment spending plan.

The Director of construction of Belorussian NPP paid special attention to the main problems of the contracting organizations which could affect the execution of the plan. He also emphasized that in order to start the erection works on time the contractors need to carry out maximal engineering preparation and planning for the facilities assigned to them.
